Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation

Hey Girls!

Once upon a time I only had one lonely bottle of foundation rolling around in my make up bag and would wait till I'd used it up until I bought another one, but these days I prefer to have a nice collection to choose from. Whilst this may not be great for my bank balance, I do think you need different coverage and finishes for different days and times of year so when Revlon released their Nearly Naked foundation I knew I needed it to fill the 'natural and light spring foundation' shaped void in my collection...

On paper I was incredibly excited about this foundation. Firstly, it's from Revlon and their Colorstay and Photoready foundations are beauty blogger favourites, secondly I love a nice light base for this time of year and finally it comes in at a reasonable £8.99. When I went to buy it from Boots first impressions were good too as I liked the sleek and simple packaging and glass bottle and there seemed to be a good range of shades. Sadly when I swatched the shades I struggled to find my perfect match as most of them seemed to be too dark or too pink toned and no one wants to look like a burnt salmon! In the end I settled for the second darkest shade '120 Vanilla' as even though it's on the paler side for me, it's a good match when I have no tan on and will be a good shade to mix darker foundations with.

Application is initially a bit messy as the bottle doesn't come with a pump. Oh Revlon please give us pumps, it makes things so much easier! No pump aside, this applies like a dream as my Real Techniques Expert Face brush blends it seamlessly, but I imagine this would work well just using fingers too. The product has a very light liquidly consistency similar to the Bourjois Healthy Mix, which I really enjoy, but with this blendability and lightness comes incredibly light coverage. I'd say it offers a little bit more coverage than a tinted moisturiser or BB cream but quite a bit less than a usual foundation, so you need to be having a good skin day to wear this or be prepared to use more concealer than usual.

The finish is the most 'skin like' I've ever come across, it's so natural it's almost undetectable which is great for girls who don't like to look too made up. Personally I was hoping it would be a little more glowy, but it is a great medium between a matte and dewy finish. As you can expect with such a light foundation the longevity isn't the best and you'd probably need to top this up about 4 hours into a long day but it's fine if you're just in the house or popping out. So overall you can probably tell I have quite mixed views on this foundation, I did contemplate giving it to my friend Rosie who has amazing skin and really doesn't need a proper foundation, but I decided to hang onto it for days when I'm not doing much and also for non tanned times as it's the lightest foundation I own. Definitely one to try if you love a very natural look.

Have you tried 'Nearly Naked'?

After a lovely bank holiday with the boy I'm back to reality now as I've got lots of essays and performances to do before I finish my degree and go on holiday. It's not all bad though as I have the English ball tomorrow night so I'm very excited to dress up and do lots of dancing (and drinking)!

Have a lovely night girlies!
Love Meg

  1. I've never been a fan of Revlon makeup, it never seems quite good enough! I prefer more coverage than this seems to give as well. Great blog :)

  2. I keep eyeing this at the drugstore but always end up with something else. I've heard so many good reviews on it-- I'll have to break down and get it at some point!

  9. I tried their Colorstay foundation and am still a bit 'meh' about it, it gives me zero coverage and the fact it doesn't have a pump is so annoying! Maybe I'm just applying it wrong... Glad you enjoyed this however! :)

  10. I have been trying this out recently but it really isn't enough coverage for me, if you are just wanted like a bb cream coverage though i think it would be ok. Love your blog :) x

  11. I hate that Revlon don't use pumps! I've avoided getting Nearly Naked because I love ColourStay so much and think I'll be disappointed. Sounds like it would be a good day time foundation though because I save colourstay for nights out xx

  12. It seems nice but I'm still a bit on the fence about this one. I find that Revlon foundations kinda look like they're sitting on top of the skin up close but I might give this a go xx

  16. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about this foundation. Some people are crazy about it. Some people are just sort of eh. I hate when foundations don't come with a pump. I mean, I know that companies purposely do it so that you waste more product (and have to a buy a new one sooner), but it's so messy. I hate when the foundation drips down the bottle after you've poured it out. It's very frustrating!
